Born out of Paramount Film Studios in Los Angeles, Vans Downtown Showdown – the brand’s global flagship event – landed in London for its third European instalment. Old Spitalfields Market, the historic heritage site in East London, was chosen to play host to this now legendary international street skateboarding spectacle, attracting the world’s best professional skateboarding talent for another first-class occasion.

Created for skateboarders by skateboarders, this unique event brings together the best European riders and core skateboarding brands in one competition where each team creates an original and challenging obstacle to be skated in sequence by selected skateboarders.

French worked with the Vans team and Tower Hamlets Council, Transport for London and The City of London to create and produce the artwork for the event, and venue branding, including bespoke artwork to let the Victorian Jack the Ripper theme shine through.

Around 10,000 visitors flocked to the downtown London location over the course of the day, making this the largest skateboarding event the UK has ever seen.
